ISHP regrets to announce the death of Vaclav Rusek, passed away on 30th January, aged 87.
Vaclav Rusek was born on 25th February 1928 and he devoted all his academic career to the history of pharmacy. Besides others, he was instrumental in founding of the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks. He was a member of the International Society for the History of Pharmacy and the Interantional Academy of the History of Pharmacy for many years. For his professional work, he was awarded several prizes, e.g. Medaille Carmen Frances in 2007. In 2009, he attended the International Congress for the History of Pharmacy held in Vienna with the short lecture Apotheken-Etiketten in der Sammlung des Böhmischen Pharmazeutischen Böhmischen pharmazeutischen Museums for the last time. He participated in acitivities of the Czech Society for the History of Pharmacy until his very last days.
Vaclav Rusek will always be remembered as a respected professional, and, above all, as a kind, friendly and unpretentious colleague and friend.
