The American Institute of the History of Pharmacy – AIHP – has opened the call for nominations for the George Urdang Medal.
Throughout its long history, the George Urdang Medal has been awarded to the author of an outstanding scholarly publication in the field of pharmacy history. Over time, however, many have come to view the Urdang Medal as a lifetime achievement award, and AIHP has decided to formalize that change in purpose. Hence, going forward, AIHP will award the George Urdang Medal to recognize the lifetime achievements of a person who, over a sustained period, has made important scholarly contributions to the field of the history of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals. Of course, the Urdang Medal will continue to be awarded without regard to nationality or citizenship. It is truly an international award.
