Medical Lexicon 6: "Antidotus" Related terms: "Alexipharmaca", "Anodyna". Antidote was called in ancient medicine an internal medicament, that is a medicament that, absorbed by the body through digestion, had the capacity to heal it. By extension, it became synonymous with any medicament able to contrast deadly poisons, called "Alexipharmaca".
